Berekum Chelsea head coach Solomon Owdwo has revealed that last seasons top scorer Kofi Owusu favours a move to defending league champions Ashanti Gold Football Club if he should leave the Club.

Following his stellar season which saw him score 19 goals, Kofi Owusu has been linked with several clubs including current CAF Champions League winners TP Mazembe as well as a number of clubs in South Africa and Sweden.

According to reports the former Aduana Stars striker has settled on a move to Obuasi to join Asshanti Gold, but it remains unclear if the move will happen following the decision of the Miners to strengthen their ranks with the Fuesseini twins from rival club New Edubiase.

The words of Gaffer Solomon Odwo suggests that the interest of AshGold might have cooled due to a niggling injury bothering the player.

“As far as I am concerned Kofi Owusu is nursing an injury but I also know that he wants to play for Ashanti Gold only," Solomon Odwo said

“As things stand now I don’t think that deal is still on because he is still trying to recover.

“We are hoping that he will return soon from injury then we will know if he will join his teammates or complete that transfer,”
