Berekum Chelsea livid with Ghana FA decision

Officials of Berekum Chelsea are seething following the Ghana FA’s decision not to postpone their midweek Premier League game.

The defending league champions were seeking a reschedule of their week 18 tie at home to All Stars on a ‘special dispensation’ as contained in article 13.1 of the Premier League regulations.

This according to the club is to help them prepare adequately ahead of their Caf Champions League return leg encounter with Liberian club LISCR on Sunday.

Their official request to have the game against All Stars on Wednesday postponed was however turned down by the Ghana FA – a decision officials of the Blues are livid with especially with a sanctioned Kotoko friendly against Tanzania club Simba FC setting as precedence.

“I am really disappointed in the decision of the Ghana FA especially the General Secretary and the Emergency Committee,” Chelsea’s Accra Representative Nana Oduro-Sarfo told Accra-based Radio XYZ.

“The GFA are saying Berekum Chelsea don’t qualify under article 13 but the GFA forgot that they sanctioned a friendly match of Kotoko against the Tanzanians when Kotoko were supposed to play Chelsea in a league match which was postponed.

“So I don’t see why we don’t qualify under this dispensation especially when going to play in a crucial Champions League game.”

With Chelsea’s plea rejected, the league game against All Stars will go on as planned on Wednesday.

The Berekum-based club go into their second leg Champions League encounter holding a healthy 2-0 advantage.
