Berekum Chelsea will adopt a defensive approach during their Caf Champios League clash against record holder Al Ahly on Saturday, says International Relations manager Joe Addo

The club’s philosophy for attack has served them well in the previous two games against Zamalek and TP Mazembe where managed to pick four points from a possible six.

But the team has been exposed at the back with a fragile defensive network which hs seen them concede four goals in their last two outings.

The central defensive pair of Edward Kpodo and Ahmed Adams has been far from convincing and the club has revealed to park the bus to shut out the opposition at the Cairo Military stadium.

“We are very much aware of the pedigree of Al Ahly and so we have to approach this game with a different mind set,” Chelsea’s International Relations manager Joe Addo said.

“They are very strong in the last 15 minutes and we’re also strong in the last 45 minutes. I believe we have to look at the defence and be cautious,”

“We have spoken to the defenders to remain calm and not fall to the gallery. When you are a defender and you lose concentration at the start, it may work against you,”

“I understand that Ghanaians are concerned about our defense. But I believe the past few days have seen some improvements at training and so hopefully, we will be able to withstand the pressure,”

“The heat will be on the home side. We will try to keep them at bay and then attack when the chance presents itself.”

Victory for the Blues will see them jump to the top of the group and put them within touching distance of qualifying to the semi-finals.
