Ghanaian forward Bernard Tekpetey's impressive performances in the Bulgarian league have caught the attention of former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director, Ibrahim Sannie Daara who is advocating for the player’s invite.
The forward only featured for the Black Stars during the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)but has failed to make it yet again after several years.
Against the backdrop of poor performances from the current crop of players, Sannie Daara insists the forward has done enough to get into the squad.
"I think that we should widen the scope not only to the top leagues of the world, but also give preference to those on the periphery of the top leagues in Europe," Sannie Daara told GHOne TV.
"For how long will this young lad keep performing well in the Bulgarian league? But maybe just because he's playing in Bulgaria, we are not giving him preference," he added.
This follows Ghana’s recent poor form which has left their AFCON 2025 qualification chances hanging by a thread.
The Black Stars face Angola on Friday, aiming for their first win on the qualifiers having fetched only two points from a possible 12.
