Ghana striker Bernard Tekpetey was on target for Fortuna Dusseldorf in their 3-2 loss against FC Basel in a friendly match on Friday.

Tekpetey has endured a difficult time since joining the club in the summer, having failed to find the back of the net in eight games.

But the 22-year-old's hard work paid dividends during their friendly encounter against Swiss giants FC Basel.

The Ghana international fetched the opening goal for the Red and Black lads on the 10th minute mark with a cool finish.

But two quick goals from Samuele Campo and Silvan Widmer gave FC Basel a 2-1 lead before Erik Thommy drew parity for Dusseldorf on the stroke of half time.

Dusseldorf nearly restored the lead just seconds to end the first half through Tekpetey but his powerful drive forced goalkeeper Jonas Omlin into making a superb save.

However, FC Basel clinched the win thanks to Valentin Stocker's 63rd minute goal.

Tekpetey and compatriot Kevin Ofori were two of eleven changes made by coach Friedhelm Funkel at half time.

Kasim Adams and Nana Opoku Ampomah were part of the team that played the second 45 minutes.
