Bernard Tekpetey unperturbed by latest Black Stars snub

Ludogorets striker Bernard Tekpet about the latest Black Stars omission because he has high hopes for the future.

The Ghanaian is having a fantastic season with Ludogorets, but he was left out of Otto Addo's squad of 29 for this month's friendlies against Brazil and Nicaragua.

The 25-year-old has six goals in all competitions. No Ghanaian striker has scored more, but his name is not on the squad, a shocking decision that should have left Tekpetey disappointed, but he is not; instead, he believes he will be called at the right time.

His attention is on Ludogorets' Europa Conference League match against Jose Mourinho's AS Roma on Thursday.

“I wasn’t surprised with my exclusion in the BlackStars although I knew most of the players that will be called were injured, I think this call-up was done earlier but that’s not a worry because my focus is on our game with Roma tomorrow,” Tekpetey said on Wontumi Sports.

“I still see myself in the Black Stars in the future, I just have to stay focused and stay in good condition and I know with hard work, I will be called to serve the national team once again.”

Since moving to Bulgaria, Tekpetey's career has taken a significant leap forward. He's become more clinical in front of goal and consistently performs well.

Ludogorets won the Bulgarian championship this season thanks to his impressive performances, which included 10 goals.

With five league goals already this season, he appears to be on track to surpass last season's total and possibly reach 20 for the first time in his career.
