Black Maidens management committee chief Augustine Asante has rubbished claims by his country's sports minister that he's unaware of the team's participation in the 2016 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup in Jordan.

Vincent Oppong Asamoah had claimed he was unaware of the team's trip to Jordan for the global showpiece.

But the Black Maidens management boss has dismissed the claims as unfortunate.

“I was taken aback by that statement from the deputy minister of sports. Perhaps he is unaware but we sent the budget to the ministry way back in June," he said

“I had a conversation with the minister last week Tuesday on preparations for the tourney so it was quite surprising to hear Hon. Vincent Oppong Asamoah deny knowledge of the tournament”. Asante remarked

” We planned of camping in Dubai or Saudi Arabia but due to unavailability of funds the plan couldn’t come to fruition”

Ghana have been grouped among powerhouses Japan and USA as well as Paraguay.
