Italy defeated Zambia 2-0 in their opener and edged hosts Costa Rica 1-0 before losing by the same scoreline to Group winners Venezuela.
The Maidens are seeking another qualification to medal zone after winning bronze at the 2012 finals in Azerbaijan.
