Black Satellites coach Karim Zito says the team is motivated to win the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations title to mark Ghana's 64th Independence day celebration.

Ghana last won the Youth Championship in 2009 where they went on to conquer the world by winning the U-20 World Cup Egypt to become the only African country with the trophy at that level.

Twelves years on the Black Satellites have journeyed on to another final against the East African side which comes off at the Olympique Stadium, Nouakchott.

Ghana marks its independence from colonial rule today 6 March and Karim Zito believes the occasion is the right time to motivate his players to win the country's fourth title at this level.

“What happened in 2009 is history and it’s past is gone, we are talking about tomorrow’s match," Zito said during the pre-match press conference on Friday, as reported by the Ghana FA official website.

“I can tell you that we are keen to win this trophy because tomorrow is Ghana’s independence anniversary.

“We are privileged to represent our nation here and the best way to thank our country is to win this trophy and present to our president Nana Akufo-Addo.

“He sent us to represent the country and it’s a must to win tomorrow to show him that we have achieved the task he gave us. Past success does not always reflect what will happen tomorrow."

The Black Satellites are hoping to lift the trophy for the fourth time having won the tournament in 1993, 1999 and 2009.
