Deputy captain of the Black Starlets Nathaniel Adjei is confident about Ghana's qualification chances after their 2-1 win over Togo.
Ghana's U-17 team won their second game of the Africa Juvenile championship 2019 qualifiers after a goalless draw game against Niger.
The team currently sit top of Group A with 4 points in the WAFU U-17 Zone B championship and will face Ivory Coast in the semi final.
Nathaniel Adjei is upbeat about their chances against Ivory Coast. “Our mood is the same as the first and second game, the objective is clear. We are not taking any chances.” The central defender told ghanafootballonline.
He continued, “we’re taking it a game at a time so not to get carried away. The coach has warned us against complacency ahead of the last group game.”
“We can’t get ahead of ourselves at the moment, we’re very optimistic but cautious as we aim to clinch the sole slot from the zone.”
This the format is the first of its kind introduced by the Confederation of African Football and is expected to increase participation at the youth level in the to enhance the exposure level.
Winners from all all the zones will qualifiers for the 2019 U-17 African Cup of Nations to be hosted by Tanzania.
