Sudan coach, Kwesi Appiah has described Ghana's failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament as unfortunate.
For the first time in two decades, the four-time African champions failed to qualify for the continent's most prestigious tournament under the guidance of Otto Addo.
Ghana after six games played recorded three draws and three defeats and finished at the bottom of Group F with three points.
Speaking in an interview, Appiah, who has had two stints as Ghana coach described the situation as unfortunate but added that valuable lessons must be learned from the team's failure to secure qualification.
“From the beginning, I said only two teams will qualify, and it was just unfortunate that Ghana was not able to go,” Appiah told Ghanasportspage.com.
“But sometimes things happen that you learn from, and you make sure it doesn’t repeat itself again. That’s life and that’s football. If certain things don’t go well, you sit down and think about how to make it better," he added.
Meanwhile, Kwesi Appiah guided Sudan to secure qualification for the AFCON tournament which will be hosted in Morocco alongside Angola who finish as group winners.
