Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan is confident the Black Stars will progress through to the knock-out stages despite being handed a tough group in the 2014 World Cup draw on Friday.

The Black Stars landed in Group G together with old foes United States, 2010 group opponents Germany and Portugal in what has been tagged a group of death by bookmakers.

Ghana lost to Germany 1-0 the last time the two sides clashed at the World Cup but still managed to seal through while the United States of America has fallen twice to Ghana in the 2006 and 2010 World Cups.

Cristiano Ronaldo's soaring reputation and imperious form is expected to put fear into Ghana but Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan insists the Black Stars weather the storm and sail through, quoting the deceased former South African President Nelson Mandela.

""It always seems impossible until its done - #Nelson Mandela. "Ghana [Black Stars] Brazil 2014 here we come. It's going to be a hot summer," Gyan tweeted.

Gyan led Ghana to qualify for the World Cup for the third time running.
