Black Stars demolish Division One side 8-0 in friendly ahead of Zimbabwe World Cup qualifier

Published on: 06 October 2021

Black Stars were unsurprisingly too strong when they faced Division One League club Soccer Intellectuals in a warm-up match on Wednesday evening.

Head coach Milovan Rajevac's side scored eight and kept a clean sheet to claim a very convincing victory at the Cape Coast Stadium ahead of the crucial 2022 FIFA World Cup qualification match against Zimbabwe.

The good news for Rajevac is that all goals were scored by attackers with youngsters Kamaldeen Sulemana and Fatawu Isshaku scoring two each.

Other goalscorers were Benjamin Tetteh, Mohammed Kudus, Yaw Yeboah and Joel Fameye.

Black Stars scored four in the first half and replicated the same number in the second department with Soccer Intellectuals restricted to half chances.

The team will continue preparations for Saturday's match on Thursday. They are expected to wrap up preparations on Friday.

Ghana will be hoping for victory against Zimbabwe in Cape Coast on October 9. Both teams will come up against each again in Harare next week Tuesday.

Ghana need wins in both games to remain in contention to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar.
