Black Stars demolished Glow Lamp Academy 5-1 in a low-key friendly played at the Cape Coast stadium today ahead of the final 2018 World Cup qualifier against Egypt on Sunday.

Appiah’s charges demonstrated great determination and it is expected that they will replicate it against the Pharaohs to claim victory.

In-form attacker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom scored first before Tunisia-based defender Nicholas Opoku doubled the lead with a brilliant header but the Academy grabbed a goal before halftime.

Alaves midfielder Mukarak Wakaso converted a spot-kick in the second half to make it 3-1 before goals from Raphael Dwamena and left-back Lumor Agbenyenu wrapped the victory.

Coach Kwesi Appiah was able to field two different sides for each half as he tried different players in different roles.

The first half team comprised of;  Lawrence Ati - Daniel opera, Abass Mohammed, Nicholas Opoku, Joseph Attamah, Godfred Donsah, Nasiru Mohammed, Edwin Gyasi, Richmond Boakye Yiadom, Nana Ampomah, Abdul Majeed Waris.

Appiah made nine changes in the second half with goalkeeper Richard Ofori, defenders Daniel Amartey, Kassim Nuhu, Abgeyanu Lumor, midfielders Mubarak Wakaso, Ebenezer Ofori, Godfred Donsah and attackers Patrick Twumasi, as well as Rafael Dwamena, getting a nod.

The Black Stars will clash with the Pharaohs on Sunday with nothing but pride to play for after the North Africans secured qualification to the global showpiece last month.
