Black Stars leave for pre-AFCON camping tonight

Ghana’s Nations Cup squad will leave Accra on Friday night to begin their pre-tournament camping in Rustenburg, South Africa.

About 20 players and members of the technical team will fly out from the Kotoka International Airport to start training on Saturday 7 January, 14 days before the tournament's opening match.

Captain John Mensah, John Pantsil, Anthony Annan, Derek Boateng, Sulley Muntari, Prince Tagoe and Asamoah Gyan are all in town to make the trip to Rustenburg tonight.

Youngsters who are making their debut Nations Cup appearance Mohammed Abu, Derek Asamoah and Massawudu Alhassan will join home-based trio of Emmanuel Baffour, Ernest Sowah and Daniel Adjei for the trip.

Samuel Inkoom and the suspended Isaac Vorsah will also be on the plane tonight as well as first choice goalkeeper Adam Larsen Kwarasey.

Five players- Andre and Jordan Ayew, John Boye, Emmanuel Agyeman-Badu and Kwadwo Asamoah have been permitted by the Ghana FA to delay their arrivals to the Black Stars camp. 

Ghana coach Goran Stevanovic will drop two players from the provisional 25-man squad during the training exercise.

The Black Stars will test their tournament readiness against the South Africa, Kaizer Chiefs and Platinum Stars before departing for Franceville.
