Black Stars players trust and respect Benjamin Asare – Abukari Damba

Former Ghana goalkeeper Abukari Damba has praised Benjamin Asare’s seamless integration into the Black Stars, highlighting the trust and respect he has earned from his teammates.

“The whole Black Stars team has accepted him for who he is. They trust and respect him,” Damba said on Sporty FM.

Asare’s rise has been remarkable, stepping in as Ghana’s No.1 during the recent 2026 World Cup qualifiers. He kept two clean sheets in victories over Chad and Madagascar, further solidifying his place in Otto Addo’s squad.

His performances come on the back of an impressive Ghana Premier League season, where he recorded 12 clean sheets in 19 games, conceding only eight goals.

With growing confidence from both the technical team and his fellow players, Asare looks set to be a key figure in Ghana’s World Cup qualification campaign.

Black Stars now lead Group I with 15 points, ahead of Comoros (12 points) and Madagascar (10 points) with four games left in the qualifiers.
