The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has affirmed its support for one of the party?s Deputy Directors of Communication, John Boadu, following allegations that he is scheming to derail the chances of the party?s flagbearer in the upcoming December polls.
The allegations were made by the former host of Asempa FM?s current affairs programme, Ekosii Sen, who alleged that ?there are people within the NPP who are even more dangerous to the progress of Nana Addo, more than me. I know them.?
Speaking on Metro TV?s Thank God It?s Friday last week, Mr. Bobie Ansah dared the host of the programme, KSM, to verify his allegation from a leading member of the NPP. He said ?call Dr. Opoku Prempeh, Manhyia MP ? Napo. Ask him about the dealings of John Boadu. My own good friend John Boadu,? adding that the two gentlemen are not on talking terms due to the actions of the latter against the running-mate of the party.?
?There are some people who are very loyal to Nana [Akufo-Addo] but there are some people like John Boadu, if indeed it is true that I am doing something against Nana Addo negatively, I am on the same platform with John Boadu.?
But the NPP in a statement signed by Communications Director, Nana Akomea, released on Friday stated that ?the Party has utmost faith and trust in Mr. John Boadu.? The party said ?his commitment to the party and its Presidential Candidate, as testified by his hard work as a Deputy Communications Director, is unparalled.?
The statement went on to add that Mr. Bobie Ansah?s allegations should be disregarded because it was borne out of bitterness.
?The party urges all supporters and indeed Ghanaians to disregard the allegations being peddled by Mr. Bobie Ansah out of his admitted bitterness and biases.?
The statement enjoined party ?communicators and supporters to remain focused in championing the crying concerns of Ghanaians, on the hopeless unemployment situation, the unbearable cost of living and attendant poverty, rampant corruption as typified by the Woyome Scandal and the general malaise and despondency in the country and above all expose the lies and propaganda."
The management of Multimedia Group, owners of Asempa FM, pulled his programme off air following a near attack on the station by supporters of the NPP led by John Boadu and Anthony Karbo. He was subsequently sacked from the station in April.
