Bologna 3-2 Sampdoria: Late Destro penalty saves Rossoblu after Blucerchiati comeback

Bologna won 3-2 against Sampdoria at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara on Sunday afternoon, leaving the Genoese club just four points above the relegation zone.

Roberto Donadoni’s side raced to a two-goal lead in the first half thanks to Anthony Mounier and Godfred Donsah but the Doriani came back with goals from Luis Muriel and Joaquin Correa. However, all the good work was undone as the Felsinei got a penalty which Mattia Destro converted with ease.

Although Samp dominated possession in the opening minutes, the Rossoblu nearly scored thanks to Destro’s header which hit the post.

The home side then went in front after 12 minutes when Donsah waltzed through the Blucerchiati defence to centre for Mounier to score his fourth goal of the season.

After 24 minutes, Andrea Ranocchia failed to get rid of the ball cleanly and Donsah collected the loose ball to score from about 20 metres out.

Destro later thought he had made it 3-0 but the goal was disallowed for handball.

Emiliano Viviano saved a shot from Destro early in the second half but then Samp started to create more chances.

Ranocchia headed over the bar after a corner and then Samp pulled it back to 2-1 after 53 minutes when Roberto Soriano made a run and then Muriel beat a defender before putting a diagonal shot past Felsinei goalkeeper Antonio Mirante.

Mirante then saved a Muriel effort minutes later and Fernando took a free kick which went straight at the Bologna goalkeeper.

Il Doria levelled the scores after 80 minutes when Dodo crossed from the left to Correa and then the Argentine youngster scored after his initial shot was saved by Mirante.

Ricky Alvarez came on for Soriano and he handballed in the box.

Destro took the resultant penalty and sent Viviano the wrong way to make it 3-2 after 88 minutes. Fernando tried his luck again from a free kick but Mirante saved again.

The result sends Bologna to 10th while Sampdoria are looking over their shoulders in 17th place.
