Bologna coach thanks AC Milan fans after Stadio Meazza return

Bologna coach Roberto Donadoni is grateful for his reception at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Wednesday afternoon as his side beat hosts AC Milan 1-0.

The Italian was treated to a standing ovation by home supporters upon his entry to the pitch, having served for the Rossoneri on two separate occasions between 1986 and 1999, an act which the tactician found most touching.

“The applause of the San Siro meant a great deal to me,” he told Radio24. “It fills me with pride and make me happy to have been a Milan fan.”

In contrast to Donadoni’s reception, Milan coach Sinisa Mihajlovic was booed off the pitch following the loss, though the 52-year old supports the fans’ outrage.

“Milan have a great history, they have every right to make their own opinions of the coach,” he continued, refusing to comment on whether he could replace the Serb should he be sacked.

“As for my future, only God knows. At the time being, my thoughts are only with Bologna.”
