Bonera: ‘Ibra wants to return as soon as possible’

Daniele Bonera has insisted Zlatan Ibrahimovic wants to return as soon as possible and says a draw against Lille won’t be enough.

The former defender will once again sit on Milan’s bench tomorrow as both Stefano Pioli and his assistant are positive for COVID.

“I should say that a draw would be enough but we want to impose ourselves everywhere,” Bonera said at a press conference ahead of their away Europa League game at Lille.

“This mentality is part of Milan’s history and we must continue like this.

“Winning games always give a boost, we face the leaders of our group. We made mistakes in the first leg, we’ll try not to repeat them and win the game," Bonera continued.

“Lille have very good players up front, they are a big team and sit second in the Ligue1 table.”

The Rossoneri will be without Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Bonera believes playing a game every three days it’s not a problem.

“We are accustomed to it, it’s been going on since May. I believe it’s not a problem as we have a high-level team.

“We have a few players injured but the team’s spirit is the most important thing, we need to show the same one of Napoli.

“Ibra is determined to return as soon as possible. It’s no news, that’s what distinguishes him. He is a great athlete and he is ready to return as soon as possible.”
