Courtois has been plagued by injuries during the 2022/23 season, having already missed six league matches. His replacement, Andriy Lunin, has been in decent form, keeping three clean sheets in the six games he’s played.
According to reports from AS, the Belgian international will return to Madrid for further medical tests to determine the extent of the injury and whether he will be fit to play against Real Valladolid on Sunday. This latest setback will be a cause for concern for Real Madrid as they have a crucial Champions league clash against Chelsea.
Courtois’ absence would be a significant blow for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, who are currently second in the La Liga table, eight points behind leaders Barcelona.
