BMW may return to Formula One and is considering a partnership with McLaren
According to famous British journalist Joe Saward, BMW is thinking about the possibility.
BMW is in talks with McLaren to collaborate on the joint development of road cars. As part of this deal, several of Saward’s sources believe that BMW could extend the collaboration to Formula One as well.
BMW and McLaren already have a history of working together in the 1990s. At the same time, McLaren does not have the resources to develop engines for Formula 1 on their own.
BMW sees the idea of returning to F1 as an interesting one to compete with its German rivals Mercedes, Audi, and Porsche.

BMW has, in the modern history of Formula One, been involved in the championship as a technical partner and engine supplier to the Sauber team. The BMW-Sauber team ran for a total of five years (2006-2010). The best result was second place in the Constructors’ Cup in 2007.
