Bruno Fernandes breaks silence after Portugal’s tight win over Ghana in the 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup.
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has described Portugal’s win over Ghana in the 2022 FIFA Qatar World Cup as a ‘great step’ forward.
Portugal were held to a frustrating goalless draw in the first half and that was down to a brilliant collective performance from the Black Stars.
However, the Portuguese side opened the scoring after Cristiano Ronaldo scored from a controversial penalty.
Some minutes later, Ghana fought back into the game when Andre Ayew scored with a decent finish.
Seconds after his equaliser, Portugal restored their lead after Fernandes put Joao Felix through with a decent pass and the Atletico Madrid forward slut it home nicely.
Two minutes later, Fernandes provided yet another assist but this time for AC Milan forward Rafael Leao, who beat the goalkeeper with a top finish.
With a minute left of the regular time, Osman Bukari pulled a goal back for Ghana with a fine finish and what many would describe as an intense game came to an end after the score line remained that way after additional eight minutes.
Fernandes took to Twitter and said: “Incredible group spirit, and a great first step towards achieving the dream.”
