Chilwell was handed a starter against Zagreb but indeed the night didn’t end well for him as he was pulled off amid a hamstring injury.

Chelsea’s 2-1 victory must have come at a cost with Ben Chilwell yet to learn the length of his injury spell as he reunites with Reece James on the injury bed for the second time in their Chelsea career.

Not only are James and Chilwell good combo on the football pitch, the duo can also be said to be unavoidably good combo on the sick bed as it Wednesday night marked the second time in their career both players are getting injured on same period.

James currently has a big tool fixed to his leg to help him recover following an injury proceeding from the second leg of the AC Milan game. Just few games after that, Chilwell is joining him as both men are likely to miss World Cup action.

Speaking after the game, Chelsea boss, Graham Potter confirmed Chilwell’s injury as he labeled it ‘a blow for us on an otherwise positive evening’ with the length of the injury to be learned only after a scan.

“It’s not great. Obviously when he pulls up like that it’s a concern, so we need to scan it, but it’s not positive at the moment,” the former Brighton manager said.

“It’s a blow for us on an otherwise positive evening, I think. It’s a blow, to see him pull up like that is not a great sight. So fingers crossed that when we get it scanned it isn’t as bad, as it can be not severe. We have our fingers crossed at the moment, but obviously we’re disappointed.

“I think you’d have to say there are worries about him being okay for the World Cup. I don’t want to add any more than that, but obviously when a player pulls up like he did and he felt it, it’s never positive. He just felt something as he was setting off and it’s not nice.”

Chelsea turn to their weekend Premier League fixture against table leaders, Arsenal as Potter set for another major test as Blues manager.
