Chelsea Rekindle Enzo Fernandez Pursuit As They Set To Complete Perfect Transfer Window
After a failed move and Benfica’s unwillingness to let the player leave, Chelsea have once again opened talks for the signing of Enzo Fernandez.
The London side are expected to approach Benfica with another proposal for Enzo Fernandez before the transfer window closes after the initial offer was turned down.
Todd Boehly is expected to be busy over the course of the next week as the Blues look to bolster Graham Potter’s midfield and right-back before the end of the January transfer window
Despite six signings this month, Chelsea have failed to add reinforcements to a position that many feel is a priority. Chelsea’s hunt for a new central midfielder is expected to return with Enzo the new talk.
The Blues recently saw their opening bid of £55million for Brighton’s Moises Caicedo rejected and were reportedly lining-up an improved offer close to the Seagulls’ £75m valuation.
One player that had seemed to be on the verge of moving to west London was Benfica’s World Cup star, Enzo Fernandez. The midfielder wanted the move to the Premier League amid strong interest from Chelsea, but his release clause proved a stumbling block to the move.
However, with Boehly’s stance on Caicedo is reportedly uncertain, reports from Portuguese outlet Record have claimed Chelsea are preparing a new raid for the Benfica man before the end of the January window.
Notwithstanding, like earlier this month, Benfica are not likely to budge on their stance on the midfielder, meaning that an additional £106m will have to be spent by Todd Boehley for Enzo.
With just one week remaining till the slam of England January transfer window, Todd Boehley must act, be it Caicedo, Enzo or any player so to bolster Chelsea’ midfield and the Right-back position.
