Manchester United manager, Erik ten Hag, has urged the club’s hierarchy to remain vigilant as the January transfer window draws to a close. Despite adding only backup goalkeeper Jack Butland and striker Wout Weghorst on loan deals this month, ten Hag is keen to strengthen his squad further as they find themselves locked in a battle for a top-four spot in the Premier League.

With finances limited this month, United have prioritized loan deals, but ten Hag has pointed to his side’s ongoing battle for no fewer than four trophies as evidence for their need to keep bolstering all over the pitch.

“In the coming days, should we have an opportunity, I would go for it but it’s not only up to me. I think that always has to be the approach at this club,” he said.

“Every day you have to get better so if there are opportunities to get better then you have to strike, that’s my approach. I’m looking, doing research, I have an idea and have profiles to strengthen the squad.”

The Dutchman believes that with the right additions, Manchester United can strengthen their push for a top-four spot and challenge for silverware on multiple fronts. With the transfer window closing in a few days, it remains to be seen if United will make any further moves in the transfer market before the deadline.
