Erling Haaland reacts to winning Football Writers’ Player of the Year Award
The Citizens star has been enjoying an incredible debut season at Manchester City since his transfer to the Premier League side last summer. He has scored 51 goals and provided eight assists in just 47 games, with a goal or assist every 60 minutes.
Haaland recently broke the Premier League record for most goals in a single season with his 35 goals and holds other records, including the most goals in a single season for City. With six games remaining in the league, or seven if City reach the Champions League final, Haaland could set a new record for the most goals in all competitions in a top-flight season.
Amid his exceptional season at Etihad, Haaland has now been voted the Football Writers’ Player of the Year.
“I have loved my time at City so far – my teammates are incredible, and they provide me with the chances to score goals. I want to thank all of them, because I could not have won this award without them,” the attacker said, via Manchester Evening News, as he was happy to receive the award.
