France rules Karim Benzema out of 2022 World Cup Qatar due to injury
Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema will not partake in the 2022 Qatar World Cup due to an injury, it has been officially confirmed.
Benzema was called up to the France squad for the fast-approaching World Cup whilst struggling with his fitness, but there were hopes the Frenchman could recover fully before their opener against Australia next week.
However, after recent medical examinations, it was revealed the Real Madrid talisman suffered a knock in the left quadriceps during the session on Saturday evening, according to L’Equipe.
The same outlet has confirmed that the 34-year-old has been ruled out of the World Cup and his replacement is underway.
L’Equipe has included Manchester United forward Anthony Martial as a potential replacement for the Ballon d’Or winner.

Martial has struggled with his fitness this season and has only managed seven appearances in all competitions.
The 26-year-old played United’s last three matches, two games against Aston Villa and Fulham.
