The England captain is ‘open to signing a new contract’ and will meet with Spurs executives after the January transfer window to discuss terms.

According to reports, Harry Kane is willing to extend his contract with Tottenham and will hold contract talks after the January transfer window closes.

The 29-year-old, who has had an excellent season despite Tottenham’s struggles, has a year left on his contract and could leave the north London club on a free transfer in the summer of 2024.

Manchester United, in particular, have been made aware of his potential availability, while Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Real Madrid are also thought to be interested.

Spurs are reportedly considering selling Kane if he refuses to sign a new contract and would accept a fee of around £100 million from a Premier League rival.

According to The Athletic, Kane’s potential departure is far from certain, and he could be persuaded to stay at Tottenham.

Tottenham had hoped to meet with Kane sooner, but his participation in the World Cup, as well as Spurs’ focus on the January transfer window, limited opportunities.

Kane will most likely wait until the end of the season to sign a new contract because he wants to see how Tottenham’s season ends first.

He will assess the club’s chances of winning silverware as well as the quality of players being recruited, with the forward eager to add some trophies to his resume.

Ideally, he would like to do so at Tottenham, preferring to stay with a Tottenham side that he believes is competitive and capable of winning silverware, and his primary focus right now is securing another top-four finish and progressing as far as possible in the FA Cup and Champions League.

Interestingly, despite growing links with Manchester United, Kane has not seriously considered leaving the club, nor has he held any discussions over a potential move.

It is unclear whether Antonio Conte will stay at Tottenham beyond the end of the season, which could influence Kane’s decision, though the prospect of reuniting with Maurico Pochettino – the favourite to replace the Italian – could be appealing.

United, for their part, have made signing a new, proven goalscorer their top priority in the summer window, and Kane would tick many boxes, though there is an understanding that Spurs would be extremely difficult to deal with despite the striker’s contract situation.
