Real Madrid skipper Karim Benzema has won the 2022 Ballon d’Or award by a massive margin, according to reports.

Benzema is obviously the favourite to win the award on Monday after starring for Real last season.

The France star scored 15 goals to help Real win the Champions League last season, scoring in the final against Liverpool.

Benzema also scored 27 goals in 32 La Liga games as Real Madrid won the Spanish top flight last season as well.

He appears to have continued from where he left off after scoring his 4th league goal on Sunday during Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Barcelona in La Liga.

While many are expecting him to win the award for the first time in his career, Marca have reported that the Frenchman has won the award and the gap he gave the runner-up is said to be massive.

According to
, France Football were amazed at the high amount of votes Benzema received for his Ballon d’Or.

Benzema’s team-mate Thibaut Courtois has reportedly won the Yashin Trophy as well.

Didier Drogba backs Karim Benzema to win the award following his sensational performances over the year.

Drogba said: “Karim Benzema is one of my favorite players, it’s true that he is having a great season and deserves the Ballon d’Or.”
