Mikel Arteta has opened up on competing with Pep Guardiola for the Premier League title.
The two men used to work with each other at Manchester City before Arteta’s arrival at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal’s new head coach.
Since joining the Gunners, Arteta has played an important role in the team’s improvement. His side is now even close to lifting the Premier League trophy.
Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are the main contender to interfere with Arsenal reaching the desired title this season. They are currently sitting in second place in the domestic league table, five points behind the Gunners.
“Obviously, that’s not going to change any friendship, the moments that we’ve had, how important he is in my life, how important he is in my profession,” Arteta said about the Premier League title race ahead of the club’s FA Cup game with City.
“But we’re both wanting to win, and defend our clubs in the best possible way, and that’s always been the case since day one.”
