What Argentina accomplished at the World Cup was somewhat diminished by some of the photographs that I saw of the Argentine goalkeeper.

During Argentina’s 2022 World Cup celebrations, Kylian Mbappe was subjected to criticism, according to Patrick Vieira, which he claims “hurt the game.”

Last Sunday’s final in Qatar saw Argentina defeat France on penalties, and the South American country celebrated their victory to an excessive degree in the eyes of some.

Particularly after he was spotted holding a doll baby with Mbappe’s face on during the open-top bus parade in Buenos Aires, Emiliano Martinez, the goalkeeper for Argentina and Aston Villa, has come under intense scrutiny for his antics.

Prior to this, the 30-year-old made fun of the France striker by calling for a moment of quiet for the PSG player while his squad celebrated in the locker room immediately after the world cup final.

Martinez is renowned for using the “dark arts” during games, but his actions following the Cup game have drawn harsh criticism, with one former World Cup champion calling him “the biggest s*** in world football.”

All of this, according to Vieira, who won the 1998 World Cup with France, taints Argentina’s victory.

In his pre-game press conference on Friday, the Crystal Palace manager said, “When you are talking about the abuse and the comments that he [Mbappe] experienced after the World Cup, I think that is harming the game and himself.”

What Argentina accomplished at the World Cup was somewhat diminished by some of the photographs that I saw of the Argentine goalkeeper.

They didn’t really need that, in my opinion. Martinez made a dumb decision by doing that, but sometimes you can’t control people’s emotions or decisions.

Mbappe, who beat Martinez with a hat trick and a shootout penalty in the World Cup game, also faced a barrage of horrifying abuse from some stadium patrons and internet trolls.

Vieira said,

“I was really disappointed since I heard the same song as you.

“I want a photo of the Argentina fans with the enthusiasm and energy they displayed during those matches.” They won the World Cup, of course, but they also excelled in front of the crowd.

“I want to remember that and not dwell on those idiotic fans who cast doubt on what Argentina accomplished both on and off the field.” This is the negative side of Argentina’s World Cup victory.
