Paul Scholes urges Erik ten Hag to bench Bruno Fernandes vs Everton
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has suggested that Bruno Fernandes has to be dropped against Everton due to his poor performances.
Fernandes, who was dreadful against Manchester City last weekend, started in the team against Omonia but fell short and was replaced midway through the second half by Anthony Martial, who would go on to score United’s second goal two minutes later.
The Portuguese star has struggled to revert to the form he showed during his first two seasons at the Theatre of Dreams and many have advised Ten Hag to drop the Portugal international.
Paul Scholes was not pleased with the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder’s performance against Omonia and suggested that it might be time he got dropped off the starting team.
The former Manchester United midfielder would also suggest that Casemiro needs a Fred or Scott McTominay in the midfield as a helper, which eventually means Christian Eriksen would fill in for Fernandes, who plays behind the striker.
Speaking after the 3-2 win over Omonia, Scholes said: “Casemiro played in a three at Real Madrid all the time. He needs help. He will need Mctominay or Fred with him.
“It might be a time for Bruno Fernandes to have a rest on Sunday.”

Marcus Rashford came on at the break after he replaced underperformed Jadon Sancho, and scored the equaliser less than six minutes after his cameo.
Anthony Martial replaced under fire Bruno Fernandes in the 61st minute and two minutes later, Rashford set him up to score Manchester United’s second goal with a top finish.
Late in the game, Rashford scored his second goal and Man United’s third goal of the night when he got on the end of Cristiano Ronaldo’s cross.
Both Rashford and Martial are expected to start for the Red Devils when Manchester United play visitors to Everton on Sunday in the Premier League. United lost their last league game 6-3 to Manchester City at the Etihad last weekend.
