The Athletic journalist Sam Lee has provided an update on Ilkay Gundogan’s future at Manchester City.
The Citizens’ captain has been recently linked with the move to Barcelona during the January transfer window, however, any deal didn’t materialise.
Despite the transfer links, Lee claims Gundogan is eager to stay at Etihad and continue his playing spell under the boss Pep Guardiola.
The German international’s current deal expires on June 2023. According to the sports journalist, City have started renewal talks with the player over a contract extension.
