FISTON KALALA MAYELE

Nationality: DR Congo

Club: Young Africans

Position: Forward

The Congolese striker is enjoying an amazing campaign with Young Africans who are close to clinching the Tanzanian Premier League title.

The 27-year-old’s contributions have kept his outfit unbeaten in the ongoing season after 24 matches.

Mayele is currently tied on 12 goals with Geita Gold FC attacker, George Mpole and will hope to maintain his rich run of form to climax the season in a grand style.

The former AS Vita Club player is helping his side to win the Tanzanian league title after losing to Simba SC for four seasons.

Mayele’s side is eleven points clear at the top, however, with few games to end the season, they are likely to emerge as winners.

He has featured three times for the DR Congo national team and will hope his superlative form will earn him a place ahead of the 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers in June.

FEISAL SALUM

Club: Young Africans

Position: Midfielder

Feisal Salum has been a key architect within the Young African’s set up this season as they seek to end their trophy drought in the Tanzanian league.

The 24-year-old is one of the outstanding players steering Young Africans to its first league title since the 2016/2107 season.

The midfielder has bagged six goals and provided two assists for the record Tanzanian league winners this season.

He is one of the reasons why Young Africans are unbeaten in the league after 24 matches so far.

Salum is national team material having featured 22 times for Tanzania and scoring 2 goals in the process.

With his good run of form, he is expected to make the Taifa Stars of Tanzania squad for the upcoming 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers next month.

GEORGE MPOLE

Club: Geita Gold Football Club

Position: Attacker

The 23-year-old who has been with Geita Gold Football Club since 2019 has been in a rich vein of form this season, scoring 12 goals and providing 3 assists for his outfit.

Mpole is currently wrestling with Young African forward, Fiston Mayele for the goal king as both are pegged on 12 goals each with six matches to end the season.

His goal contribution has aided Geita Gold FC to the fifth spot in the 2021/22 league campaign in Tanzania.

The enterprising forward has been one of the outstanding performers in the league considering his goal-scoring ratio for clubs he has featured for in Tanzania.

He had stints with Majimaji FC, Real Nakonde FC, and Mbeya City Council FC in the country before joining Geita Gold FC.

The 32-year-old is the surprise package in the ongoing campaign and has contributed 14 goals for Namungo Football Club.

Lusajo has scored 10 goals and provided 4 assists for his outfit who currently sit 6th spot on the log.

With six games to spare, Namungo will battle it out to make the top four at the end of the season which will subsequently guarantee them continental football next season.

The forward who joined the club in January 2021 has been capped five times for the Tanzanian national team since his debut in September 2021.

MEDDIE KAGERE

Nationality: Rwanda

Club: Simba SC

Position: Forward

The veteran striker is rated as one of the best players currently playing their trade in the Tanzanian League this season.

The 35-year-old striker has been the livewire at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium for defending champions, Simba SC.

The Rwanda international who bagged the goal king prize for two consecutive seasons in 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 with a combined tally of 45 goals is enjoying a prolific season.

He has scored 7 goals for Simba SC who sit in the second position on the league log after 24 matches.

Since the reigning league champions are on the verge of losing the title to Young Africans, they will hope to maintain their second spot in order to taste continental football next season.

Kagere has been capped 53 times for the Amavubi of Rwanda, scoring 15 goals since his debut in 2011.
