Alexander Zverev needs to maintain his form

Alexander Zverev is continuing to excel in Grand Slams as he eyes his first quarter-final appearance in Wimbledon. The German reached the final last year in the US Open and continued his Grand Slam good form by reaching the quarter-final in the Australian Open and the Semi-final in the French Open. the World number six highlighted his season with two titles in Acapulco and Madrid.

Zverev will now play in the fourth round of Wimbledon for the second time in his career. After two easy matches against Griekspoor and Sandgren where he won in straight sets, the German played his toughest match so far with Taylor Fritz in the third round. Zverev lost the first set in a tiebreak but regrouped and won the match after three tight sets.

Felix Auger-Aliassime can cause a huge upset

Auger-Aliassime is having the best season of his career on grass. The Canadian is on an 8-2 win/loss record this year including his three wins in Wimbledon as he has already done better at The All England Club than his first appearance in 2019 when he was eliminated in the round of 32. Aliassime looks very comfortable on grass as he has his best record on the green lawn.

After beating Monteiro in straight sets in the first round, Aliassime won his second-round match against Ymer 3-1. In the third round, the world number 19 took on Nick Kyrgios and faced his most challenging match. Kyrgios won the first set but suffered an injury in his abdominal muscles. Aliassime took control of the second set as the Aussie couldn’t continue and retired handing the Canadian his ticket to the fourth round for the first time.

Aliassime Key Stats

  • The average second serve points won by Aliassime is 61% in Wimbledon
  • Aliassime had his serve broken five times in three matches in Wimbledon
  • The number of breakpoints won by Aliassime in Wimbledon is 11.

Alexander Zverev vs Felix Auger-Aliassime Prediction

This could be Zverev’s most difficult match in Wimbledon this year despite being the favorite to win with the bookies with a 1.30 odds at Vbet and the fact that he has never lost to his opponent in five meetings.

Aliassime looks very comfortable this week and his powerful groundstrokes and volleys are his main weapons that could trouble any opponent. Zverev has been serving in an immaculate way averaging 17 aces per match. Aliassime has to use all his quickness and reflex to return the German’s serve.

As with most of this round’s matches, we think this one will also be a close match with a lot of games to be played since both players are very hard to be broken.
