Andrey Rublev vs Casper Ruud: Prediction and Betting Tips

Andrey Rublev must find his top form
After a fine win in his opening match over Stefanos Tsitsipas, World number five Andrey Rublev lost to Djokovic. In fact, the Russian played one of his worst matches in recent weeks committing 26 unforced errors. Moreover, Rublev rushed and wanted to finish the points quickly but it backfired and now he is in a do or die situation as he plays Casper Ruud.
As we covered in our previous previews, Rublev’s form has not been consistent in recent matches. To illustrate, the 24-year-old won just two of his last seven matches including the ATP Finals. In addition, he hasn’t made it past the second round of the last four tournaments he played in. His record against Casper Ruud is perfect, however, as Rublev won all five meetings.

A fine comeback by Ruud leaves him with a chance for the semis
It must be confusing for players when their opponent changes in a fortnight. Such was the case for Casper Ruud when Stefanos Tsitsipas withdrew and he had to prepare for Cameron Norrie. And it showed in the first set as the Norwegian had trouble with Norrie’s left-handed services. To point out, Ruud won just 35% of the returns on Norrie’s first serve and zero on his second.
However, Ruud raised his game in the second set and served much better. Notably, Ruud won 45% of the points on his first serve in the first set and 88% in the next two sets. Surely that was one of the key adjustments that helped Ruud to come back from a set down. Still, the world number eight has a tough match ahead with Rublev, against whom he has always suffered.
Beautiful to watch ?

Andrey Rublev vs Casper Ruud Prediction
This match will be a knockout clash between two interesting players who reached the ATP Finals after a fine season. Surely both players will battle to reach the semis but the bookies are favoring Rublev with odds of 1.52 at Vbet.
Moreover, the fact that Rublev has never lost to Ruud also gives him the edge. Nevertheless, the Russian must forget his performance against Djokovic and play a more composed and relaxed game as he did against Tsitsipas.
On the other hand, Casper Ruud is in the best season of his career and needs to find that extra drive to beat Rublev for the first time. Certainly, a key for the Norwegian will be his serve that wasn’t up to the level needed in this tournament.
As for our prediction, we think both players will win a high number of games since they are eager to win. Hence, we will back over 20.5 games for this match. And for our second prediction, we will back under 2.5 sets.
