Sunday’s FA Cup tie should be a very exciting affair as two of English football’s attacking powerhouses come head-to-head. This competition represents the only chance for either of these sides to win silverware this season so we can expect strong line-ups.

Arsenal have had a miserable season in the Premier League and currently sit down in 6th and seven points off the top four. However, the FA Cup has been a bit of a saving grace and it is even rumoured that Arsene Wenger’s decision of whether to stay or go could hinge on the tournament.

As alluded to earlier, Wenger’s men are very attack-minded as shown by the fact they have scored 63 goals in 31 league games whilst, despite being on a terrible run lately, they have also found the back of the net in all but one of their last 25 matches in all competitions. Defensively though, they are a shambles and have had a infamous soft underbelly for years now. This is demonstrated by the fact that, apart from in two matches against non-league opposition in the FA Cup, they have kept just one clean sheet in their last ten games in all competitions.

The Gunners’ record at Wembley is very good in recent times having won their last four competitive matches at the stadium. Having said that, they all came against rather mediocre opposition in the form of Aston Villa, Reading, Hull City and Wigan Athletic. Coming up against a team who will actually challenge them is a different kettle of fish, particularly with confidence so low at the moment.

Manchester City have recovered from a four-match win-less run in all competitions to claim maximum points in their last two games, putting them in that precious 4th spot.

City are of course known for their attacking strengths and it is no surprise that they average two goals per game in their last five. Their overall record of 63 in 32 may only be fifth-best in the Premier League but, it is only six fewer than Liverpool who top the goal-scoring charts. However, Man City are generally poor at the back and, like Arsenal, lack leadership in defence. It is no coincidence that their first clean sheet in five matches coincided with the return of Vincent Kompany to the back-line after injury.

Unlike Arsenal, the Citizens’ record at Wembley is not great and their last appearance at the stadium in an FA Cup tie was that famous loss to Wigan Athletic back in 2013. However, they did beat Liverpool in the League Cup final last season.

Although they have little experience at Wembley in comparison to Arsenal, I expect City to come out on top here. Unlike Arsene Wenger’s men, Pep Guardiola’s side are not suffering from a lack of confidence. The recent meeting at the Emirates may have ended 2-2, however, that was with home advantage for Arsenal so I am predicting a different outcome on neutral territory.

One player hitting all the headlines recently is Manchester City winger Leroy Sane. The 21-year-old scored against Arsenal in that recent draw and also scored last time out in City’s win over Southampton. Furthermore, he has found the back of the net twice in the FA Cup this season.

‘Leroy Sane to Score Anytime’ looks a good bet at 9/4 whilst ‘Leroy Sane to Score and Manchester City to Win’ is certainly worth a go at  4/1.
