This FA Cup match between Championship strugglers Blackburn Rovers and Champions League chasing Manchester United looks incredibly one sided but who knows what could happen given the magic of the cup.

Despite an okay run which has seen Blackburn take four points from a possible nine in their last three Championship matches, Rovers still find themselves mired in the relegation zone and are two points from safety. There is a lot of off-field chaos going on at the club right now which is no doubt a bad distraction from events on the pitch, hopefully for the club however, this run in the FA Cup run is a positive distraction.

Owen Coyle’s side have been all over the place at the back this season and they have the third-worst defensive record in the division with 49 goals conceded in 31 games and a rather pathetic four clean sheets.

Offensively, Rovers are not that bad and have scored in their last 10 matches in all competitions, however, they have not scored more than two goals in a match since 19th November 2016.

Despite the discontent at Ewood Park right now, Rovers’ form at home has been really good in the last few weeks with three wins in their last five in all competitions, losing just once, and very narrowly, in that run of five. However, with the powerhouse of United visiting on Sunday, the statistic of Rovers conceding in 81% of their league home matches does not bode well.

After a blip in January, United have revived themselves throughout the course of February and have recorded four wins in their last five which means that they are still in all of the competitions they entered at the start of the season.

Jose Mourinho’s teams have always been built on solid foundations and we are certainly seeing this at United who have the third-best defensive record in the top flight at the moment. Furthermore, they have not conceded a single goal in any of their last five matches in all competitions.

Although the Red Devils have one of the worst shot conversion rates in the league, they seem to have found their shooting boots in recent weeks with eight goals in their last three games.

I expect Mourinho to heavily rotate his side for this match as he is likely to take the second leg of the Europa League very seriously despite the fact they are 3-0 up against French side Saint-Etienne. Having said that, they should certainly have too much for a Blackburn side who leak goals and so ‘Man United to Score Over 2.5 Goals’, at 5/4, is the bet to be on here.
