Another key injury disrupts the Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets looked rallying through the series after commanding wins in the first two matches. In the third match, we saw the lowest score (86-83 for the Bucks) by both teams in the playoffs so far this season when the defense dominated on offense.
In game four, the injury crisis continued with the Nets as Kyrie Irving left in the second quarter after he landed awkwardly on his ankle and left the game. Kevin Durant tried his best scoring 28 points with 13 rebounds but as he keeps seeing his superstar teammates leave the court, one wonders whether he can carry all the weight all by himself.
If Irving doesn’t return for game five, coach Steve Nash has to find other options to help Durant which wasn’t sufficient in game four. Other than Irving who had scored 11 points before getting injured and Forbes with 10 points, no other Net player had double digits in the game in scoring.
Nets Key Stats
- The Nets shot just 28% fro the arc in the last two games
- The Nets made 17 turnovers in game four
- The Nets made just 36% of their field goals in game three
Milwaukee Bucks on the driver’s seat now in the series
The Bucks hit back in a great manner in games three and four and tied the series 2-2. In game three, Antetokounmpo and Middleton combined to score 68 points. That represented 79% of the Bucks’ total points marking the most points scored by any duo in a playoff game in the NBA ever.
Game four saw the same scenario until the second quarter when it was 44-40 and Irving left the game injured. The Bucks controlled the game as defensively there was only Durant threatening them and offensively Giannis and Middleton took charge and guided the Bucks to a very important victory.
If we look at the stats, both teams have nearly identical numbers. The difference was in the Bucks scoring six more three-pointers. Giannis had a double-double with 34 points and 12 rebounds with Middleton adding 19 points hitting 3-8 from the arc.
Bucks Key Stats
- Giannis scored 33 and 34 points in the last two games
- The Bucks made 16-44 three-pointers in game three
- The Bucks had an average of 56% from the two-point range in game three
Brooklyn Nets vs Milwaukee Bucks Prediction
Things can turn upside down for the Nets if Kyrie Irving doesn’t recover in time for game five. Even the bookies are confused as they have posted just the major markets on their sites!
The Nets dealt with Harden’s injury but game four showed that it will be very difficult for Steve Nash to rely solely on Kevin Durant. They have no other choice than for other players to step up and contribute at least defensively as they did in game two.
The bucks on the other hand look very determined now and will gain a huge confidence boost from the two games they won in Milwaukee. Coach Budenholzer was happy with players like P.J
Tucker’s contribution in the game and if they can maintain that in game five, we think the Bucks can lead the series
At the time of writing this article, the betting markets are very limited. We will back a Bucks win who are now favorites after tieing the series, to win game five.
