Elisabetta Cocciaretto will play against Anastasia Potapova in the first round of the tournament in Guadalajara. The game will start on October 18 at 17:00.
Bookmaker Ratings: Prediction #1 – Handicap (-3) for Potapova – 1.76.
Bookmaker Ratings: Prediction #2 – Total Games Over 20 – 1.71.
Potapova is approaching the start of the tournament in Mexico in great spirits, after a semi-final in Cluj-Napoca. What’s more, Anastasia has been in at least one round in eight tournaments in a row, irrespective of the venue and coverage. I don’t think the unstable Cocciaretto will be able to break this tradition of Potapova today.
In eight of her last ten matches, Potapova has played more than 21 games. In four of her last ten matches, there was an exchange of sets won.
Cocciarretto made it to the main draw through qualification, beating qualifiers Carol Zhao (6-3, 6-1) and Renata Zarazua (6-4, 6-4).
Elisabetta showed good results in the first half at ITF tournaments, after which she played mostly at the ATP level.
In Makarska, she reached the final. In the decisive match, Elisabetta lost to Jule Niemeier (5-7, 1-6).
Cocciarretto won two more matches in Budapest and Bari.
It’s also worth noting that Elisabetta managed to get through a difficult qualification at the US Open, after which, however, she immediately lost to Alexandra Sasnovich (2-6, 4-6).
Cocciaretto has lost seven of her last ten matches to higher-ranked players.
Potapova, meanwhile, was one step away from a final in Cluj-Napoca last week.
In the semi-finals, Anastasia unexpectedly lost to Anna Blinkova (7-5, 4-6, 4-6), who eventually took the title.
Before that, Potapova did not have a very good performance in Monastir. Already in the second round, she lost to Tamara Zidansek (3-6, 6-3, 2-6).
On the whole, the second half of the season is going to be very successful for Potapova.
Suffice it to recall, she reached the final in Prague in July and the semi-finals in Lausanne and Hamburg.
Potapova has not lost once in the first round since the Bad Homburg tournament in June, where she lost straight away to Tatjana Maria (3-6, 7-5, 3-6).
In seven of her last eight matches, Potapova has been on the court for at least 21 games.
