Felice had previously been one of the potential title contenders, but in 2018 her career took a sharp turn for the worse following her defeat from Kowalkiewicz.
Herrig is now on a streak of three straight defeats. In her last fight, she lost to Virna Jandiroba by submission. That fight took place in 2020.

Kowalkiewicz had her peak in 2016. Then, she fought her compatriot Joanna Jędrzejczyk for the title, but was defeated. The slump began after a knockout by Jessica Andrade in 2018.
Since then, Kowalkiewicz has not yet won once. She is now on a losing streak of five fights in a row. It’s not out of the question that if she loses again, Kowalkiewicz will be fired from the UFC.
From that point of view, she is far more motivated than her opponent. That said, Karolina has gone through more opposition in her career than her opponent.
