League One clubs Fleetwood and Shrewsbury meet for the third time in as many weeks on Tuesday night. This time the pair come together for the FA Cup second round replay at Highbury Stadium.

Having drawn 0-0 just over a week ago, both teams will be looking to make it second time lucky in order to face Bristol City of the Championship in January’s third round.

This pair may have drawn 0-0 when they met in this competition ten days ago, but when they met in the League not long before that, Fleetwood ran out fairly comfortable winners in front of a home crowd and it’s quite hard to see a different outcome here.

The bet to go for ahead of this one, is ‘Fleetwood to Win & Over 1.5 Goals’. The hosts have been in good form on their own patch this season and will surely be confident that they can dispatch of a Shrewsbury side who find themselves right at the very foot of the League One table.

Both teams approach this fixture in fairly decent form: Shrewsbury are unbeaten in three and come here having recorded a 1-0 victory away at Millwall on Saturday, while Fleetwood are unbeaten in six and will be looking for their second home win in four days having beaten Walsall 2-1 on Saturday.

Highbury Stadium is where the hosts have been at their best this season. The hosts currently sit third in the home form table and have won seven of their 11 fixtures in front of a home crowd (drawn three, lost one). On top of this, having found the net no less than 21 times, the goals have arrived regularly for Fleetwood at home. Compare this with the fact that Shrewsbury have won just twice on their travels, conceding 19 goals, and it’s not at all hard to fancy Uwe Rösler’s men to get the job done.

The fact that all seven of Fleetwood’s home wins have seen at least two goals hit the net, while the exact same can be said for all six of Shrewsbury’s away defeats, also bodes well ahead of this one.

When the pair locked horns on this ground just 21 days ago, the hosts were superior in every way. Having scored fairly early, Fleetwood took the game by the scruff of the neck, enjoying both more shots and more shots on target, winning in good style be scoring three goals. This result will surely leave The Trawlermen with the belief that they’ve got the beating of the visiting team again and it would be no surprise at all to see a similar score-line here.
