France v Cameroon. Tancredi Palmeri’s prediction
This is a test match for Deschamps and his men, 24 hours prior to announcing the definitive squad list for EURO 2016. Having played in the Champions League final on Saturday, Griezmann won’t be involved tonight, but L’Equipe de France should be at full strength otherwise and are likely to take this game very seriously.
Cameroon are team that since Broos took the job have lost only one of their last 11 games. During this period they won’t have faced anyone of France’s pedigree, but they are still in good form and should be reasonably high on confidence. The Cameroonians will be without one of their most crucial players, if not the most crucial, Kameni. Who has been banned from the squad by the manager after refusing to answer a call-up. Cameroon will miss him heavily, and this, alongside a disparity in quality, could help France to a safe victory tonight. They will no doubt be looking to build both momentum and confidence ahead of hosting a major tournament. A 2-0 win, at 5/1 with William Hill, looks a decent bet. The French have scored exactly two goals in three of their last six home games – two of which finished 2-0 – and if seeing as it shouldn’t take a defensive masterclass to keep a clean sheet tonight, 2-0 looks a likey scoreline.
