The first of Sunday’s FA Cup matches is a London derby between Fulham and Tottenham – a club who seem to have priorities elsewhere this season.

Fulham are one of many sides chasing a play-off place in the Championship this season and they are currently on a fantastic run with four wins in their last five matches in all competitions. They did lose their other match away at out-of-form Birmingham City but it should be noted they went down to 10 men with quite a large portion of the match remaining.

Goals are usually on the menu at both ends of the pitch at Cottagers’ matches. Their last five matches demonstrate this perfectly with 12 goals scored and five conceded. They are the Championship’s fourth-best goalscorers with an incredible 52 goals in just 31 games and have failed to score in just six league matches this season, but defence is always a concern with such an attacking style.

Craven Cottage is one of the most picturesque grounds in the country and Slavisa Jokanovic’s men have certainly enjoyed their time there recently with four consecutive wins whilst they have also scored in their last 12 matches at home in all competitions. The Whites are certainly a dangerous opposition for any side at home.

Spurs have faltered a bit in the last couple of games with two straight losses. Firstly, they lost a vitally important league match away at Liverpool before travelling to Belgium to face Gent where they put in a lacklustre performance, causing them to lost 1-0 despite manager Mauricio Pochettino fielding a strong team.

Tottenham have the second-best defence in the Premier League at the moment with just 18 conceded in 25 matches as well as recording 11 clean sheets. However, the last couple of matches have shown that, if that defence is breached, they lack serious firepower going forward and it is not that surprising to see that they have only scored once in their last four matches in all competitions. Having said that, going up against a Fulham side who are dodgy at the back is an opportunity to get their confidence back in front of goal.

Spurs are poor on the road with no wins away from White Hart Lane since New Year’s Day. Having said that, they go up against lower league opposition here and Tottenham fans should be confident of coming out on top.

I expect both to rotate their teams here with supposedly more important fixtures coming up soon. Having said that, Spurs have the better second XI and, even though they are having a bit of a bad time at the moment, they should be capable of coming out on top and really ought to score a few against against this dodgy back-line. ‘Tottenham to Win & Over 2.5 Goals’ is the bet to go for at 13/8.
