This Group D clash is an all Eastern European affair as Georgia host Serbia. Georgia are having a poor World Cup qualification campaign so far and are yet to win in any of their four games, putting them just one point above Moldova who sit at the bottom of the table.

The Georgians have managed to score in all but one of their matches in Group D but it is defence which has been the problem and they are yet to keep a clean sheet, conceding five overall.

The Crusaders are pretty decent at home and have only lost once in their last five matches on home soil. Additionally, Vladimir Weiss’s side have scored in each of their last six games at home. Unfortunately for them though, they last won a home World Cup qualifier back in September 2012 and the last victory before then was back in 2004.

Serbia are having a good campaign and are currently unbeaten, meaning they sit 2nd in the group and just two points of Republic of Ireland in top spot.

Slavoljub Muslin’s men have been very good in the final third and are Group D’s top scorers with an average of 2.25 goals per game, finding the back of the net in each of their four matches. However, they are a bit open at the back and have conceded five overall and have kept just one clean sheet and even that came against minnows Moldova.

The Serbs generally have a poor record on their travels though and they have won just two qualification games, World Cup and European Championship, since September 2013. Having said that, going up against a relatively poor Georgia side presents a good opportunity to put this right.

I am backing Serbia here and they are, unsurprisingly, the favourites. However, with Georgia a threat going forward and Serbia dodgy at the back, the Serbs can get the better of their opposition in a high-scoring match. ‘Serbia to Win & Both Teams to Score’ is well worth backing at 7/2.
