Germany-England is a friendly that is never a friendly, but that will be felt more by the English, cause the Germans are the world champions and surely have no rush to affirm their identity and status.
Obviously it is a classic, but England are in that mental position of someone that is coming from nine (9!) consecutive tournaments without reaching semifinals – their historic bad record is ten – and so their warmup is totally different from the Germans’.
But Hodgson must deal with several absences, so the only thing that can really be tested is how much the team can hold the opponent and keep composure: let’s go for Under 2.5 goals at 1.80.
