Every week I say that Anzhi are a certainty to go down. However, thanks to a couple of surprising results against Rubin Kazan and relegation rivals Mordovia Saransk, the team from Dagestan now find themselves in what they might call a lofty 13th position. This puts them in the relegation playoff places rather than the automatic relegation spots.

Anzhi will be confident they can snatch another victory at Krylia to make it three wins on the spin and escape the drop whilst maybe even pulling away from the relegation playoff positions if results go their way.

Krylia on the other hand are sitting comfortably in mid-table and this match is a dead rubber for them with players looking to come out of here unscathed before a nice holiday. Franky Vercauteren’s side are the weakest attacking side in the division and I cannot see them creating much against Anzhi, despite Ruslan Agalarov’s side being woeful at the back.

Anzhi have miraculously shown that they can pull off good results when they are up for the fight. They have worked extremely hard to get into this position and will be keen to ensure they do not let this opportunity slip.
