This FA Cup Fourth Round tie has had to go to a replay after a draw in the first leg. With Leicester currently in bad form, Derby will feel confident that they can cause the upset that they came so close to causing when these two first met.

After their latest capitulation at the hands of Manchester United, Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel said that their current situation was ’embarrassing’ and that the club were in serious danger of going down as they sit just one point above the drop-zone. However, perhaps an FA Cup tie against local rivals Derby can provide a nice distraction.

Both ends of the pitch have been a huge problem for the Foxes in the last few weeks, scoring a pathetic zero and conceding 10 in their last five league games. Fortunately for them though, the FA Cup has been a bit kinder with four goals in their two matches so far, however, they have failed to keep a clean sheet in the competition this season.

Leicester have been very lacklustre at home since the start of December and this home match against a local rival could go one of two ways here – embarrassing defeat to lower league local rival or the turning of a corner in their campaign.

Derby’s play-off push has taken a bit of a hit since the new year with three defeats in five matches, however, the fact they have won their other two league games means they still only three points off that precious 6th spot. The Rams have already disposed of Premier League opposition in the form of West Bromwich Albion in the cup this season and will feel they should have won their initial tie against Leicester.

Steve McLaren’s side are certainly built on solid foundations and, despite losing a few matches since the start of 2017, they still have the best defensive record in the Championship with just 22 goals conceded and 15 clean sheets in 29 matches.

Although their goal return is not great (30), before narrowly losing to Newcastle United at the weekend, the Rams had scored eight goals in three matches in all competitions which shows they do have a decent amount of firepower.

Pride Park has certainly been Derby’s fortress this season and they have struggled to be consistent on the road, particularly recently, as shown by the fact their last five away results read L, W, L, W, L in all competitions.

Leicester have been made heavy favourites for this match but, right now, you do not know which Foxes team will turn up and that could be troublesome in a feisty East Midlands derby. With this match too close to call, ‘Both Teams to Score’, at 11/10, makes plenty of appeal. Leicester cannot seem to stop conceding right now but their superior attack against Derby at the King Power means they should also find the back of the net themselves.
