Los Angeles Clippers with a chance to tie the series
One of the most important aspects for an NBA team in the playoffs is to be able to overcome injuries or absences to key players. The Clippers showed that they were capable of overcoming Kawhi Leonard’s absence against the Utah Jazz. Tyronn Lue is still missing his top scorer but his team still was able to win game four after a great collective performance by his team.
After missing two crucial free throws that could have won the Clippers game two, Paul George helped his team in game three with game-high 27 points and 15 rebounds. Regie Jackson added 23 points hitting 3-8 three-pointers. It’s not clear whether Leonard will be back for game four but if the Clippers continue to play collectively, they can tie the series.
Clippers Key Stats
- 107.7 points is the average points per game of the Clippers in the series
- The field goal percentage of the Clippers in the Series is 45%
- The Clippers haven’t lost at home in five games in the playoffs
Phoenix Suns need to find other options to score
It was clear that Devin Booker was not in his best form after breaking his nose in game two. He played with a mask on his face and scored just 15 points and was 5-21 from the field. It was only the third time in Booker’s career that he played 40 minutes or more in a game and scored in 15 points or fewer. Chris Paul was back and had a good game with 15 points and 12 assists.
Booker didn’t find the mask the reason behind his low scoring but rather Beverley’s defense of him. The Sun’s star acknowledged the Clippers’ guard’s defensive abilities and he says they have to find other ways to overcome that challenge. Paul’s and Booker’s combined 25% field goal percentage was the lowest by any all-star teammates in a playoff game.
Suns Key Stats
- 105.3 points is the average points per game of the Suns in the series
- The field goal percentage of the Suns in the series is 47%
- The Suns are on a 9-1 win/loss record
Los Angeles Clippers vs Phoenix Suns Prediction
We had predicted correctly our two bets for this match. We thought the Clippers would win the match after they had found the way to stop Devin Booker in game two and implemented the same tactic in game three and that is Patrick Beverley.
As we have seen in many games this season in the playoffs, whenever the top-scorer of a team was well guarded his team would suffer. The Suns need to have a backup plan for Booker’s low-scoring performances if they want to go far in the series.
We will back the total points to be low for this game as both teams seem to have found the defensive tactics to limit each other’s scorers to as low numbers as possible.
